After the usual business meeting we had a very
nice array of refreshments provided by Carol Trudel & Dot Pecchia. We also
enjoyed a bit of a different type of program. Our Program Committee
Chairpersons, Moe and Jan Rousseau enlisted their daughter Charlene Canual to
speak to us. Charlene is an advocate for
Organ Donation. Her interest in this
field stems from being a recent liver donor to her cousin. She has recovered well from the surgery and
her cousin is feeling so much better since receiving a portion of Charlene’s
liver. Charlene is very active in her
“new” advocacy role – participating in events such as 5K walks for organ
donation awareness. She did a great job of presenting the need for organ
donation, how to sign up to be a donor, communicating with friends and family
related to your wishes to be a donor, and answered questions from the audience.
