2010 New England Meet, Sturbridge Mass.

The 2010 N.E. Meet was held in Sturbridge Mass. on Sept. 17th through 19th. The show included a tour to the Blue Star Equiculture draft horse sanctuary, and a tour to Don Passardi's home. Don has a building devoted to Ford memorabilia, including some outstanding pre-war Ford cars, Model A's included. The weather was good for the entire event, with perfect temperatures for the outdoor activities.

In the peer judging of Model As, Pat and Charlie Howard took a first in the 1931 closed class, Ed and Pam Avedisian took a second place trophy in the 30-31 open class, and Dominic and Susan Mosca won a first place trophy in the woody class.

All the Little Rhody attendees of the event had a great time, with memorable evenings in Pat and Charlies "Hospitality Suite", great meals at the evenings events, unique raffle items, and John's radiator cookies. Elvis even made an appearance on Saturday night.

Slater Mill Visit, Aug. 8, 2010

On a perfect summer Sunday, we met at the site of the start of the Industrial Revolution here in the U.S. The location was Samuel Slater's Mill on the banks of the Blackstone river in Pawtucket, RI. We were treated to a tour of the mill facilities which have been renovated and equipped with period textile machinery. Some of the early equipment is in working condition, and it's operation was demonstrated as we progressed on the tour.
Another treat we received was a lunch which was provided by Walter Szeliga who was a knowledgeable and gracious host.

July 2010 Picnic

On July 18 2010, the Johnson, Underwood, and Lockwood families opened up their property in Coventry for our annual picnic. Not only did they provide the location, but they also did the cooking of both chowder and clamcakes, and the chicken barbecue with all the trimmings.
The car games were conducted on the property as well, for a complete day of food and fun.
The weather, while a bit hot and humid, was typical for a July day, and taken in stride.
There were 51 attendees, making for a very successful picnic indeed!

Memorial Day 2010 Exeter Parade

Sittin on the porch, shootin the breeze.

The day was perfect for a parade, and club members took advantage of it. Some of us met at the Howards, others went directly to the Start area.
There were marching bands, Scout groups, and a Colonial army rifle squad, as well as Little Rhody member's cars. At the end of the route, there was a cookout at the Exeter Library.
Club members toured the Veterans Cemetery and ended the day back at the Howard's house for refreshments.

2010 Dustoff Tour

The 2010 Dustoff Tour was a resounding success in spite of the rainy weather, with 58 attendees...A record for Little Rhody.
The Calcagnies hospitality was outstanding, as they opened their home, and their garage full of collector cars from Model A's to Cadillac's to the members of the club in attendance. Angelo and Lucy provided us with a meal of hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, pizza, and all the trimmings.
Club members were also treated to rides on the two Model A fire engines that Angelo has in the collection.
Two cakes decorated with Model A photos and a Geranium plant were given to our hosts as thanks for having us as their guests.
A thank you was also in order for John and Dottie Cece for hosting the April meeting at their home, and providing a coffee and pastry brunch for the hordes of attendees.

2010 Potluck Supper and Brownbag Auction

The March meeting traditionally fills in the time
between the holidays and the Dustoff tour with
good eating, and a brownbag auction.
This year was no different, with plenty of food in
varieties from lasagna to chili with meatballs, stuffed
shells, eggplant etc. thrown in. Deserts included ambrosia,
brownies, Fordscout shortbread cookies, cake, etc.
Sparky did his usual best to add a kings ransom to the
club treasury, all from the donated gewgaws in the
brown bags.
