Merry Christmas 2010

Here are a few photos taken at the December 4th Little Rhody Christmas party.
We had a great buffet meal and the usual Christmas visit from Santa (AKA Sparky) and
a gift exchange.  Along with a DJ to cater to our holiday music needs, a great time was had by all.

Although this is a bit late, here are some pictures from our trip to the New England Wireless & Steam Museum this past June.

This car was assembled from a 1920 Stanley chassis, Baker boiler, and a Woods Dual-Power body.

A picture of some of some of the Little Rhody Model A club members cars lined up next to the 1822 Meeting House that was moved to the property in December of 1972. The building has been completely restored and features an antique reed organ, a gift from William Butler, and an early Hammond electric organ, a gift from Richard Hook. The bell in the steeple was removed from New Haven Railroad steam locomotive #1380 about 50 years ago by Rodney Bailey. This old meeting house and the internationally recognized National Register scientific collection sits in the 1988 nationally designated Tillinghast Road Historic District, and is an important part of our town, state, and country.

It is a beautiful church meeting hall, and well worth seeing.

The visit to the New England Wireless & Steam Museum was very interesting.

Chicken Run 2010

The Fall 2010 multi club get  together held at Wrights Chicken Farm was the biggest one yet.

Even though the day was cold and damp, we had a great turnout, with 51 Little Rhody members

in attendance.  The parking lot was filled, with Model A Fords accounting for about half the cars there.

Other cars included Model T's, Packards, Cadilacs, etc.

Members assembled at Dottie and John  Cece's house for a great breakfast before the ride to Wrights.

2010 New England Meet, Sturbridge Mass.

The 2010 N.E. Meet was held in Sturbridge Mass. on Sept. 17th through 19th. The show included a tour to the Blue Star Equiculture draft horse sanctuary, and a tour to Don Passardi's home. Don has a building devoted to Ford memorabilia, including some outstanding pre-war Ford cars, Model A's included. The weather was good for the entire event, with perfect temperatures for the outdoor activities.

In the peer judging of Model As, Pat and Charlie Howard took a first in the 1931 closed class, Ed and Pam Avedisian took a second place trophy in the 30-31 open class, and Dominic and Susan Mosca won a first place trophy in the woody class.

All the Little Rhody attendees of the event had a great time, with memorable evenings in Pat and Charlies "Hospitality Suite", great meals at the evenings events, unique raffle items, and John's radiator cookies. Elvis even made an appearance on Saturday night.

Slater Mill Visit, Aug. 8, 2010

On a perfect summer Sunday, we met at the site of the start of the Industrial Revolution here in the U.S. The location was Samuel Slater's Mill on the banks of the Blackstone river in Pawtucket, RI. We were treated to a tour of the mill facilities which have been renovated and equipped with period textile machinery. Some of the early equipment is in working condition, and it's operation was demonstrated as we progressed on the tour.
Another treat we received was a lunch which was provided by Walter Szeliga who was a knowledgeable and gracious host.










We had eight cars and 17 club members in attendance for the event.
