Gibby's Sugar House, Sept. 25th, 2013

Gibby’s Spring Hill Sugar House in Richmond, RI

A group of several of Little Rhody Model A Club members and their cars made their way to Gibby’s Spring Hill Sugar House in Richmond, RI on September 25th, 2013.  We lined up at Wawaloam School on route 102 in Exeter.
About a mile from the school, Bob Osborne pulled off the road at the Old Exeter Town Hall– most people thought he was just stopping to take pictures of the Model A in front of the historic building.  The group continued on and parked in the usual place at the farm. When the Osbornes did not arrive in good order, Ray and Charlie went looking for them and found that something that could not be adequately investigated or fixed was wrong with the car. Interestingly, Sparky was just driving by and also stopped to assist.  But to no avail!  So, alas, the car, Osborne’s Anna, was towed home. The hard luck story will continue at the next meeting….
The WEATHER was fabulous for the annual event and the attendance reflected that.
The Osbornes came back to the farm and joined the Howards, the Cece’s, the Moscas, Tim and Mrs. Ruth Strickland, the Bowders, Ray and Rosalie Pagliarini, David Peck and Joyce Armstrong and the Knights for the festivities.  At around 1:30, many of the group went to the Homestead Restaurant in Exeter for lunch.  Great fall day!

New England Meet, Hyannis Mass. 2013

The 2013 New England Meet was held at the Cape Cod Resort and Conference Center from the 27th to the 29th of September.
The grounds were beautiful, as was the attached golf course and the food was judged excellent by just about everyone. The weather couldn't have been better, and the Cape Cod scenery was at it's Fall finest.
The tour to the Heritage Museum and Gardens was very interesting to all of us gear heads, as there was a collection of Detroit concept cars from the 50's through the 80's
Little Rhody did well in the judging, taking 3 trophies.  Ken Trudel took a 1st in 28-29 closed cars, the Volatiles took a first in 30-31 open, and Charlie Howard won third place in 30-31 close cars.

Attendees included:
Charlie and Pat Howard             John and Dottie Cese
Domenic and Susan Mosca        Dennis and Edward Allsop
Ed and Pam Avedisian               John and Dawn Mennucci
Ken and Carol Trudel                 Richard and Joan Mowry
Joe and Carole Knight                John and Shirley Leite
Matthew Volatile                        Roger and Jackie Volatile

Little Rhody Picnic, 2013

The 2013 picnic was on a HOT...HOT July 14th!  In spite of that, we had a good turnout, and our usual fun day.  We started with chowdah and clamcakes, then on to our July meeting.  The car games included the premier of a new twist on the blindfold race...alas,not a keeper.  We went back to the "old style", with the usual fun and entertainment for the peanut gallery.  We have to give Richard Mowry an A for effort though, he always comes up with new ways to challenge our Model A driving skills.  After the games, we had our main meal supplied by the staff at Yawgoog Bakes, chicken or steak to order, sweet corn, potatoes, and a green salad followed by watermelon and a piece of birthday cake supplied by John and Dottie Cece for the July birthday celebrants.

Enjoy the pictures, and as always, click on a picture to enlarge.
