2016 JULY PICNIC AT GLEN PARK

July 23, 2016

Despite predictions of atrocious heat, the day was pleasantly warm and the breezes kept us fairly comfortable at Glen Park in Portsmouth, RI.  Plans for the event were made by Moe and Janice Rousseau with back up by Al Silvia related to procuring permission to hold it at the park, and getting the signs put up.  They also scoped out the caterer, Becky's Real BBQ and ordered the food.  Moe had to chase down the delivery truck, though, as they had gone to the wrong place - but things went well after that!  The food was good, the games went well with some new members winning some of them!  Sparky insisted that the 50-50 winners take their cash home, that was nice for Evie and Janice!  Moe and Jan brought cold watermelon for dessert and the other members brought desserts to share as well.  Ken Trudel named the winners of the car games and prizes were given out.  Rosalie and Ray Pagliarini surprised us with gifts for all and special baskets were given to those with winning tickets!  We missed several members this year due to illness and other circumstances, but were able to welcome aboard three new members and a guest to join in the fun!

MARC Award for Continuing Excellence

Congratulations to Ruth Andre!

The Model A Restorers Club Proudly Presents a 2015 MARC Award for Continuing Excellence to the Little Rhody Region for their Quail Tales Newsletter.  Dawn Mennucci presented the award to Ruth at the  May 15, 2016 meeting.

Producing a quality newsletter takes a lot of effort and time.  The Quail Tales has been an example of continuing quality improvement under Ruth Andre's watch.  Great Job Ruth!

At the May Meeting, A Real Festive Spring Spread

Susan Mosca and Sandy Bowder were our phenomenal hostesses for the May meeting.  The food was terrific, and the presentation was amazing as can be seen below.  We loved the ducks - Charlie, Mildred and whasisname....!

The Baby Picture Show on May 15 2016

Moe and Jan came up with a winner of a program when they devised a way to have members guess at the identities of those who brought in baby pictures.  They set the thirteen pictures rendered on a fabric covered board.  Each member who wanted to participate obtained a sheet of paper with the numbers assigned to the pictures.  Then they proceeded to write down their "matches" to the list of members who brought pictures.  Carol Trudel came up with the most matches - Seven of them!!!  Some of us came up with none, OH  MY!  We did find out that we were a bunch of cuties when we were little tykes.  Jan and Moe had "very valuable prizes" for participants - thanks and kudos to the Rousseaus.

2016 Dust Off Tour April 23

The 2016 Dust Off Tour

It was a beautiful day on April 24th - clear, cool and breezy, just right for going on the first ride of the season!

Bob Osborne led the group up into Massachusetts to Purgatory Chasm over some beautiful Model A roads.   It was so nice out that the parking lots were crowded, and everyone from miles around were there...so we did not stay long.  At noon, the first day that the West End Creamery was open this year, we drove just a short distance and enjoyed the views, and some of us even got some ice cream!  Then it was off to Harmony, RI, another nice ride to Chester's Restaurant for baked stuffed chicken - yummy!     A very nice day!

March 2016 Meeting

On March 13th Little Rhody did the annual Pot Luck Dinner.  We remember last year when the "annual" Potluck was cancelled due to snow, snow, snow!  Although Dottie Cece could not come, she sent along all the Irish theme table cloths with Angel and Dennis.  The room was festive and the food was great as always.  And you can see by the pictures we all enjoyed the day.

The Febrary Meeting on the 14th, 2016

On a bitter cold and blustery February 14th, 2016 - Valentine's Day - the club met at 2 pm.   The American Heart Association has deemed February Heart Month.  Using this as a theme,  Moe and Janice Rousseau arranged for a demonstration of Basic Life Support.  Chief Fenwick Gardiner from the North Kingstown Fire Department had Lt. Ernie Robin come to the meeting and do the presentation.  Ernie was terrific!  Just the right amount of information and a thorough demonstration of the 30/2 CPR guidelines.  He also did a demonstration of the Heimlich Maneuver and the Automated Electronic Defibrillator (AED).  His style was informative, but encompassing just the right amount of comic relief!  He readily answered all of our questions.  Afterwards, members who wanted to have their Blood Pressure checked stopped by  to see Janice Rousseau.
