Fall 2015 Activities

2015 Swamp Yankee Days

The Swamp Yankee Days Festival was held at the Washington County Fairgrounds on October 10 & 11 in 2015.  Several members enjoyed the wonderful weather, vendors, entertainment, rides, etc. at the event.  There was plenty of food there including burgers, chowder and clam cakes, cookies, etc. A few of us purchased deeds for the "Cow Plop Bingo" - we never heard who won.  Bob Osborne got the trophy for the oldest car with his 1929 Sports Coupe.
Enjoy the photos.

 2015 New England Meet

The New England Regional Meet was hosted by  CMARC (Connecticut Model A Restorer's Club) at the Mystic Marriott Hotel and Spa in Mystic, Connecticut from September 18 - 20, 2015. Several members of Little Rhody were in attendance for the whole event.  500 members from the region were registered to attend.  The Tour from the Hotel to the Mashantucket Pequot Museum was a parade of about 150 Model A 's along scenic routes through Connecticut rural villages.  Of the 10 cars judged to be "Blue Ribbon Cars" , FIVE were from Little Rhody Model A Club!
Charlie Howard won "Best in Show", Domenic Mosca got 1st in class, Albert Silvia received 2nd in class, Susan Dunn got a second place for her 1929 Phaeton, and Ken Trudel got a blue ribbon for his car.  Trophies were hand - crafted wooden Whales - appropriate to the" Whale of a Tale" Theme of the Meet.
Food throughout the weekend was good, only topped by the camaraderie amongst our club members and others in the NE Region.
Donations to the Meet raffles were so numerous, it took forever to get all the prizes awarded - BUT, at the end of the day Al & Sandy won a lot of prizes along with the 50/50!
CMARC can be proud of this well-run event, our thanks to the many volunteers who made this a special time!

Again, enjoy the photos.

2015 Columbus Day Parade

The Columbus Day Parade was held in Newport on October 12th.  Participants met at Al & Sandy Bowder's home on Jamestown for "coffee and" prior to the parade.  Line Up was at about 11:30, and the parade was well attended.  A cruise ship was in the harbor and many of the "mariners" lined up to see the parade and enjoy Newport.  We went to lunch at the Atlantic Beach Club for the" last "  time at the end of the parade.  The restaurant has been sold, and will become a private party oriented venue after the first of the year.
