Archie Project Update week 10 August 13, 2014

This is week 10 on the project - Last week we took off for members to go up to Stowe, then it rained (a lot) on Wednesday, so we met on Thursday. The engine was running last time, so today the aim is to get Archie up and moving. To that end, the group was looking like bees on a hive! The front wheels came off , brakes were checked, re-adjusted, the hubs were greased and the wheels were replaced. Dennis corrected a leak in the radiator system. Albert and Ray worked on modifying metal parts and attaching the muffler/tailpipe. Just about all hands worked on trying to pull the rear brakes to inspect . The effort took a long time, but did not end up happening. Sue and John greased up the wheel anyway. Gene and Albert installed the brake rods. The pedals were hooked up to the brakes and they tested "OK". The transmissions were checked again. Dennis and Charlie finalized the steering connections. Ray and Gene tried the hood on or size and found it needs some adjustment, so off it came again. Franklin worked on a possible electrical problem in the engine compartment and tested the generator. Richard got his hands on the pedals and the exhaust system. Just as the group was breaking up for dinner - Bob got a milk crate to use as a seat and commenced to driving Archie around the yard...OMG, IT WORKED!!!! Dinner was again terrific - pizza, salads, home-made pickles and more and a slew of desserts.
